Multi-level arcade game (Android)


We had previously developed the Zenman online games for ASUS. Encouraged by their phenomenal success, the company asked us to propose an effective tool to promote the third generation of ZenFones.

The new ZenFone 3 models have evolved to become more sophisticated and high-end, which meant that the target audience was now a more mature crowd. And so, our main hero, Zenman, also had to grow up. We wanted him to look and feel determined, distinguished and desirable. With the growing popularity of mobile gaming and our emerging game development capabilities, we embarked on the creation of an Android game.


For the last few years, arcade games have been the most popular type of game, with the highest user engagement.

We set out to create an engaging gameplay in this genre that would appeal to our adult audience of 25 to 35-year-olds and educate them about the product benefits of the ZenFone 3. The game is simple to start playing and structured levels allow players to discover product KSPs (key selling points) as the gameplay unfolds. Players also feel a sense of achievement through KSP use. The game graphics have a visually appealing, natural, yet technologically driven feel.


In a cluttered world of sameness and mediocrity, Zenman seeks to connect and inspire humanity through ZenFone’s incredible technology and design. He finds himself in several ZenWorlds, each representing a certain ZenFone 3 model. Each ZenWorld consists of a number of levels, in which the player has to assemble the ZenFone 3 model and present it to the world. Each level is unique and includes a booster that represents a certain KSP and helps Zenman progress through the ZenWorld. Boosters are derivatives of core mechanics and level design, and are created to temporarily help the player. They might make him invincible for a limited time, remove obstacles for him, opens doors etc. When a player completes all the levels, he feels a sense of discovery, achievement and mastery, having been empowered by the relevant ZenFone 3 KSPs. Needless to say, the player is also well informed about why ZenFone 3 is so phenomenal.

As the app release was planned for the beginning of December, we decided to make it Christmas-themed.

Moreover, as part of our digital marketing campaign, we launched an additional promotional contest to boost fans’ interest and engagement. Users had to complete gameplay levels and compete with each other for real prizes, like the ZenFone 3 Deluxe. The app reached over 90 000 installs in one month. Together with a digital marketing campaign, it strengthened brand loyalty and reinforced our ongoing mobile development relationship with ASUS. As ASUS unveils new products, they will be added to the Zenman game, as app updates, in the form of new ZenWorlds. Loyal fans will be the first to know about them via server-triggered push notifications.
